Robin Rihanna Fenty dit Rihanna est née à Saint Michael à la Barbade en 1988. Passionnée de musique, elle chante très souvent en écoutant ses artistes favoris, comme Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, ou encore Beyoncé Knowles.

Rihanna mène une vie paisible et ordinaire quand elle rencontre en 2004, le producteur Evan Rogers, venu passer des vacances sur l'île. Celui-ci est immédiatement séduit par le talent de la chanteuse et décide alors de lui faire enregistrer à New York une maquette de 12 chansons.

Dès la première écoute des titres de Rihanna, Jay Z est à son tour conquis et signe un contrat avec la jeune fille sur Def Jam, le label qu'il dirige. Le single « Pon De Replay » est alors édité et fait un tabac dès sa sortie. Distribué en France par Barclay, ce morceau tourne très souvent sur les radios et devient une des chansons les plus téléchargées sur le web.

Fin 2005, la belle Rihanna, tout juste âgée de 17 ans, sort un premier album lumineux, « Music of The Sun ».
